Overview: What is the PMP Certification?
PMP stands for Project Management Professional and is the most widely recognized certification within the field of project management. The certifying body for the PMP credential is the Project Management Institute (PMI). The PMP credential is globally recognized and indicates that a person has the practical experience, education and competency to lead and manage projects. The PMP certification is awarded to an individual upon successful completion of the PMP exam.
Minimum Requirements
Before a person is can take the PMP examination, he must meet a minimum set of eligibility requirements. A person is eligible to take the PMP examination if he meets one of the following sets of eligibility requirements.

Before you can take the PMP examination, you must complete and submit an application to PMI. The application serves to document your education and work experience and must be submitted to and approved by PMI before you can take the PMP examination. The application will ask you to provide your contact information, level of education attained, work experience and education within the field of project management.
The application review process typically takes one to two weeks. You will be notified via e-mail once your application is
approved.
